Spectrum in Motion Dance Theater Ensemble
Dedicated to people of color and the American Experience
Spectrum in Motion Dance Theater Ensemble, Inc is a BIPOC owned and operated non-profit dance organization that is dedicated People of Color and the American experience. Founded in 1982 by choreographer Olivia S Ilano Davis, Spectrum in Motion is singularly American in its method, drawing from the integration of techniques from modern to ballet and traditional dance from the Global South, classical to contemporary, organic, and somatic to our body intelligence.
At Spectrum in Motion, we believe that dance is more than just movement; it’s a way to unite individuals and foster community spirit. Our mission goes beyond performances; we aim to educate and inspire through our dance classes and outreach programs. Each step we take nurtures creativity and builds connections, ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued. Whether at our workshops or community events, we embrace diversity and encourage self-expression, making dance accessible to everyone. Join us in this vibrant journey as we push boundaries, share stories, and celebrate the power of dance in enriching lives.
